mutual aid & community care

mutual aid refers is the practice of individuals and communities coming together to provide reciprocal support and resources, often in times of need. its roots can be traced back to ancient societies, where collective survival depended on shared labor, resources, and care. in the 19th and early 20th centuries, mutual aid became a cornerstone of labor movements, immigrant communities, and marginalized groups, offering financial assistance, healthcare, and solidarity in the face of systemic inequality.

the importance of mutual aid lies in its emphasis on cooperation rather than charity, fostering community resilience and empowerment. it challenges hierarchical structures by prioritizing collective care and mutual responsibility.

for altadena & pasadena

we need hands in

after the eaton fire and all the toxic smoke & ash was released from cars and old buildings, many homes in the area are unfortunately still smoke poisoned. these communities continue to live on with the long term effects of this disaster. we would like to help them avoid even longer term effects like lung cancer, pcos, severe asthma, and more - on april 12th we are giving out 210 air purifiers and we especially want to get them into homes where our elders, children, and immunocompromised are still occupying.

our mission is to throw a day to heal in community at pasadena’s central jackie robinson park with music, food, and mindfulness - to remind our neighbors that they are not alone.
